Who I Am and Where I’m Going
An Introvert’s Introduction
Hi. I’m S.E. Waters. I want to share some background about myself with you before I really delve deeper into any one of these topics.
I would consider the themes and events I mention in this article to be my “subjects”- the things I come back to, try as I might to avoid or run away from them, time and again in my writing.
I might as well start writing about them.
I grew up in New Albany, Indiana, a small but growing town, even then. I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and I credit the proximity of the city and the amount of time I spent there with the kind of person I am today.
My parents were high school sweethearts (I know).
I attended the same high school that my parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins went through. My gym teacher coached my dad in football in the 70s so, yeah, it was a small, tight-knit community.
I attended Catholic grade school and high school, and attended Mass weekly for the majority of my first eighteen years.
I have great memories of hanging out with my cousins on both sides of the family. My grandmother on my dad’s side had a sweet little ranch with some acreage we could explore, and a creek full of red clay, which my cousins and I would dig up…
